 FAQs

  • There is not an indoor classroom because we spend 100% of our day outdoors. Because the program utilizes public parks as the class setting, there is not a dedicated indoor space. Our mobile classroom travels along with us throughout the day so that we have everything we need at any moment. The class will utilize the covered porch spaces around the buildings located in the park to play games, create art/crafts, or to seek shelter and dry areas if necessary. It is important that children are dressed to be outside all day, every day.

  • Class is held outdoors rain or shine, but we will delay our start time, or cancel class due to severe/dangerous weather (ex. thunderstorm warnings, tornado warnings, flash flood warnings etc.). If class is to be delayed or canceled, participants will be notified and updated as early as possible.

  • Forever Wild SA programming will be held at Phil Hardberger Park.

  • There is 1 teacher to 6 students. Because the program is completely outdoors and is held in a public space, it is very important to ensure safety at all times. Forever Wild maintains a low teacher/ child ratio at all times in order to keep safety the number one priority for the children in the program.

  • Children should bring a backpack with one spare set of clothes (shirt, pants/shorts, socks, underwear) lunch, and a water bottle everyday.

  • Identifying plants, animals, and natural features. Observing and becoming familiar with the colors, shapes, and changes of the natural world. Playing, building, and creating with natural materials such as sticks, mud, rocks, leaves, seeds etc.

  • At Forever Wild students explore pre-reading and math skills through a nature lens. When children show interest in these concepts, we encourage exploration and understanding in a natural hands-on form.

  • It is recommended that children enrolled in class be potty confident as of their first day. Due to the nature of the program, we will not always be very close to a restroom. We will have scheduled restroom breaks in order to ensure all children are given opportunities to go before engaging in lengthy activities such as trail hiking. Accidents happen. Pack a set of spare clothes in your child’s backpack.
